Mix 97.7 Weekday Afternoons
frankenberry@mix97fm.com
Born:
July 1st
Favorite Expression:
The possibility exists.
Before Mix 97.7: College
radio at Waynesburg (in PA) and West Virginia University, then
on to my first job at WDVE and then WXDX in Pittsburgh. The Edge
(now the X) in Dayton OH followed. Then out of radio and a lot
of bartending, a stint as Goofy at Disney and then back in radio
at K-104. Not too long after that I was here in Poughkeepsie
first at WPDH and eventually here at Mix 97.7
If I had super powers I would: I would make myself
younger and be in the cast of “Heroes”
Weakness:
Being a rabid Pittsburgh Pirate fan (it’s a heavy burden). Also
my two fur balls Benny and Shoes along with a new, slobbery
addition named Shana.
Strength:
My Maria.
Fears:
The Pirates actually winning. I’m sure it would cause some
psychological damage.
Favorite Movies:
Birdy, It’s a Wonderful life and any other
Jimmy Stewart or Frank Capra film, Brazil and the rest of
Terry Gilliam, A Bridge Too Far, Star Wars (first
three), Pan’s Labyrinth, all Monty Python, Matewan
and a number of other John Sayles movies. John Hughes flicks
when I felt as if I were living them. Big Fish,
Miller’s Crossing, Once Upon a Time in America,
Hope and Glory, The Fifth Element, 1900,
Lawrence of Arabia, M*A*S*H, The Time of our Lives,
My Favorite Year, Galipoli….
Favorite TV Shows:
Lost, NCIS, Eureka, Heroes, Doctor Who
and anything else from the BBC. Also, the sadly canceled
Farscape and Firefly series and, well, the Sci-Fi
channel in general.
Favorite Books:
Everything and anything from Gene Wolfe, the Hitchiker’s
Guide to the Galaxy and the Dirk Gently books of
Douglas Adams, The Great Gatsby, To Kill A Mockingbird,
Mary Stewart’s The Crystal Cave and her other King Arthur
books, all Neil Gaiman, Weaveworld by Clive Barker, Isaac
Asimov’s Foundation series, Dune, Lucifer’s
Hammer and other Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
collaborations.
Secret Talent:
It would be nice.
Heroes:
Jeremiah in Promotions.
Favorite Waste of Time:
Poetry, my fantasy baseball and football teams, Neatorama.com
and my blog iamfrankenberry.blogspot.com (if I
could ever get around to actually wasting my time on it). |
