Sara Elizabeth-Clark

Hello I would like to introduce you to an exceptional young woman, my daughter Sara-Elizabeth Clark. Sara is 14 years old and has epilepsy.

At the age of 10 Sara started educating others. She told them that just because She has epilepsy she is no different then they are. She told everyone that she had epilepsy and if they had questions she would answer them. If they did not have questions she offered information. Most people were receptive, some people were not.

Around the same time she decided that she could also help others that have epilepsy by reaching further. she decided to put together what has become "Sara's Annual Walk for Epilepsy". She worked with a local agency that served individuals with epilepsy and The State University of New York at New Paltz (SUNY) to organize and promote her walk. Her Walk's were held on April 30, 2006, May 5, 2007, May 3, 2008 and May 2, 2009. Collectively these walks have raised approximately $50,000.00. All monies raised went to support those served by the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York (EFNENY). They have agreed that all monies raised by Sara's Walks will be used to directly support consumers within the 22 counties they serve here in New York State. Her next walk will be Spring 2010!

Sara's Walk for Epilepsy also does many other things besides raising funds for better services and support. It also promoted general awareness, educated people, and per her personal mission, it helps break the stigma that surrounds epilepsy. Her website "It's Not who I Am" promotes the idea and belief that she will not let her epilepsy define her as a person. She ask that no one judge a person wrongly because they have epilepsy or anything else that makes them different. What a boring world it would be if we were all the same!

Beyond her walks, she also participated in two ad campaigns in 2007, to help generate general awareness for epilepsy. One was a print campaign which included posters on busses, taxis, subway cars and in malls, as well as highway billboards. These ads were seen from NYC to Albany NY. She also did a television public service announcement which aired on several television stations throughout New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. You can see the TV commercial on her webpage. She has also held breakfasts, visited Washington to speak with her congressional leaders, met with Hillary Clinton, is being published in Epilepsy USA Magazine this August and has a biography coming out September 1, 2009 written by Chris Passudetti and Published by Scobri Press.

With all this said you may be asking why I am writing you? Sara wishes to continue her outreach and with your support she will get one step further to eradicating the stigmas associated with Epilepsy. Please visit Sara's website www.itsnotwhoiam.com to learn more about her and if you can help her on the road to eradicate the stigma's associated with epilepsy please feel free to contact us.

Cassidy Drop & Kierstin Martin

Kierstin and Cassidy are raising money to give to The Carly Fund-CFOS. This fund was established after a 9 year old newburgh girl was killed in a car accident. Kierstin was asked to sing at her funeral and monthly rememberance events. Kierstin and Cassidy are friends through local theater groups and they both sing amazingly. The girls put to use a talent from God and created a CD in memory of Carly. On the CD Kierstin sings two of Carly's favorite songs, Time of My Life-David Cook and The Climb-Myley and Cassidy sings two original songs that she wrote for this family, Angels in the Sky and Don't Give Up. The girls have already sold 100 CD's at $5.00 each and are working towards a goal of raising $1,000. Nearly half way there!!! The fund gives out scholarships to local high school seniors and this $1,000 would allow for one scholarship. These two girls gave up countless hours rehearsing with their voice teachers. They wanted this to be professionally recorded and spent 7 hours in a recording studio to complete this CD. Neither child is looking for any recognition of their talents. However, they are hoping that their talents will raise enough money to reach their $1,000 goal. I hope that you consider their selfless acts as a reason to be a nominee for the Miller's Kids Club Thank you Michelle Martin
