We're back Tuesday. Here's two more of the
12 Strays of Christmas:
On the left is Crybaby, on the right is
Punkeroo.
Crybaby:
She got her name because she would cry and cry when she first came to us
as a stray. With some TLC from the staff, she's a happy young girl
looking for a forever home (preferably an adult, quiet home!)
Punkeroo: Got game? This lab
does - almost to the point of Extreme Sports! Known to play fetch for
hours and obsess over all his special toys, this young male is perfect
for the active family or couple who love outdoor quality time. Special
surprise? Punky also sits like an obedience school champ. Go figure!!
For more information on these and all the 12
Strays, go to www.dcspca.org. We'll
post the last two of the 12 Strays on Wednesday, which is Miller's last
day before he hits the road with Sal. Watch the Journal blog for more on
their ongoing adventures.
Weekend 12.28-30
Miller will be here on Monday then off
Tuesday, back Wednesday and then off for
the rest of next week and the week of January 7-11. (It's time for the annual road trip with Sal down
to Del Boca Vista (Phase 4).)
Hey, look - more cuties looking for a home!
From left to right, these are Stryder, Bobby and Brucey.
Stryder:Studies have shown
that mixed breeds live longer lives than most purebreds. In that case,
this 3-year-old tan and white male should enjoy a long, happy life with
his new family.
Bobby:
Fashion
model? Playcat? Definitely GQ. This longhaired, 2 year old, flamepoint
Siamese beats out Fabio for best hair on a male. If you have a thing for
pretty boys, Bobby’s your game. Bobby needs a special family that can
keep him happy and healthy on his special diet.
Brucey:
Forming their own little Beagle Brigade, two pals Lucy and Brucey were
found wandering the streets in search of, well- something! Lucy has
since found a home, but 6-year-old Brucey is still patiently waiting for
the second chance he deserves.
Check out
www.dcspca.org for information on
all three and the rest of the 12 Strays of Christmas.
Thursday 12.27
It's another one of the 12 Strays of
Christmas, Mr. Sir:
It's all in the
cattitude. Year and a half old all black male doesn't hold out for
proper etiquette - he expects it! Multitoed and multi talented, this
handsome shorthair has an air of distinction that makes him seem
entitled. Who are we to argue?
More info at
www.dcspca.org.
Coming up Thursday
Friday on
the Morning Mix, we'll have Poughkeepsie Journal blogger Kimberley (Sobriety
Girl) Thompson on the show with us, helping people in
recovery stay that way through the New Year.
Wednesday 12.26
Here's Hawkeye. This guy's got his eye on
you, hoping you are the one to make him part of a family again. Large
(do they make them any other way?) 5-year-old male Rottie is good with
people of all ages and gets along with most other dogs.
For more info on all the 12 Strays of
Christmas, go to www.dcspca.org.
Monday-Tuesday 12.24-25
Outtakes from the Jones
family Christmas card.
And here's Maria singing for you:
Yes, we're here on Monday and all next week
except for Christmas Day. Somebody has to stick around and let you know
you'd better stop your mom from buying your kids those hideous sweaters
with the big reindeer on them. Now then, another one of the 12 Strays of
Christmas...
Looking for exotic?
Then look no further, because this domestic longhair buff, adult male
(his name's Curry) will dazzle you with his exotic good looks and
charm. Don’t take our word for it, come see for yourself and learn more
at www.dcspca.org!
Hey - does your business give away free
company calendars every December? Send us one and we'll give you a quick
plug.

Or drop it off at our Poughkeepsie studios,
but keep in mind that the office isn't back on regular business hours
until the 26th.
Nerd Alert! It's
all the hotties from Star Trek in one place. For the record, it
appears that Kirk only canoodled with one green chick.
We are most surprised that this was NOT a
Knicks highlight:
Thursday 12.20 - Need more info on Miller's new Poughkeepsie Journal
blog?
It's right here.
Say hi to "Lady", another one of the 12
Strays of Christmas.
Perfect manners
and well dressed, the epitome of being a lady.No
wonder corgis are favorites of the Royals. Petite corgi/shepherd mix,
about 8 years old, is extremely attentive and gentle. She may be short
in stature but she's tall in personality. For more info on finding Lady
a new home, go to
www.dcspca.org.
Part 5 of a continuing
series from Dark Roasted Blend:
the world's scariest roads. Still no listing for the
Taconic Parkway.
Here's a video for that "Bring Him Home
Santa" song we played this morning. By this time next year it could
be as grating as "Christmas Shoes", but for now it sure is sweet.
Wednesday 12.19
We think we've found the best celebrity book title ever.
Go look.
That's Maizee. She's one of the Dutchess
County SPCA's "12 Strays of Christmas" - she's a
declawed calico female
who was brought into the shelter as a stray. Defenseless in the outdoor
world, this pretty, senior girl needs to be an indoor cat. Other cat
friends okay, but canine buddies should be limited.
For more information on
Maizee and the rest of the 12 Strays of Christmas, go to
www.dcspca.org.
We'll get the 12 Strays of Christmas event underway tomorrow (12.18) due
to the heavy volume of cancellations and delays. Until then, go to
dcspca.org and find out more about how you can adopt an animal and give
them a home in time for the holidays.
The
nativity scene at the Vatican has no manger in it. Instead,
there's a pub. Awesome, dude!
And
most importantly, especially if you got a snow day and the kids are at
day care and you actually have five minutes of spare time...how
to wrap a gift.
Weekend 12.14-15-16
Watch this space starting Monday (weather permitting) for "The 12 Strays
of Christmas", a joint initiative of The Morning Mix and the Dutchess
County SPCA (www.dcspca.org).
Look! It's a Santa-pede.
Tacky Christmas yards. None of those are
local as far as we know - but they sure are out there. If you've spotted
anything ridiculous locally, email us the pics (morningmix@mix97fm.com).
Toy
wooden trains. American made, no lead, no nasty bits that break off, no
cheesy cartoon characters.
What's not to love?
And before doing any online shopping, check out
cyberstreetsmart.org,
which is a NYPIRG effort rating online merchants' security.
Check out the regifting stories at
regiftable.com. Mr. J has figured out the "Regifting Robin"
game on their website. If you want to email him and find out how, drop
him a line at
brian.jones@cumulus.com.
Monday 12.10
If
you're the sort who tears up easily, maybe you don't want to read the
story we're about to link to.
Or maybe you do.
Look who's back at the top of the charts - it's
Phil Collins! And while we're on the topic, the 1976-82 Genesis box
set is a great gift for the nerd in your life. For the more recent fan,
try the new 1983-98 box set. (Mr. J already has his, so he's not
plugging anything in particular.)
And
finally, as if our pregnant listeners didn't have enough body-image
worries, here's the
ten hottest pregnant actresses ever. Swollen ankles? In that
group? Surely you jest.
Wednesday 12.5
Now
here's a bus driver with some skills:
Tuesday 12.4
Wi
nøt trei a høliday in Sweden this yer?
See the loveli lakes, the wonderful telephone system, and mani
interesting furry animals. Including the
majestik moose.
Monday 12.3
Light posting today...it's Percussive Maintenance Day for the Morning
Mix computers.
A
Whoville tree. Neat! (They also have a pathetic Charlie Brown tree
if that's more your speed.)
Weekend 11.30-12.1-2
Watch for Miller out in front of Caffe Aurora in Poughkeepsie this
evening for the Festival of Lights parade and fireworks. He'll be the
one hogging the warming station.
This is a
real cool kids' room mural. Too bad it took three months and the
kid's just going to smear mustard (or worse) on it when get gets older.
