For more information about
this week's get-yourselves-in-a-romance-novel contest, check out
www.yournovel.com. We've got a
bunch to give away, but if you don't win you can order one in time for
Valentine's Day if you move quickly. You can even get your pictures on
the cover, although photoshopping your head onto Matthew McConaughey's
body is something you'll have to do on your own.
And, just because, it's
anything you ever wanted to know about
shoelaces.
Weekend 1.26-28
Five Question Quiz Hint:
It's about people, not things.
FYI: If you missed this
morning's news that your generosity helped local Stewart's shops raise
$588,000 for local charities, plus the news that there's still time for
local charities to apply for a piece of that money -- which Stewart's is
matching -- then take a look at
www.stewartsshops.com. Deadline is January 31.
Weekend 1.5-7
Want to reach an actual
human in customer service at those gigantic faceless corporations?
skinny.
As heard on the Morning Mix
News: Does your office have one of those "honor" boxes where you can
take a snack and drop off whatever payment you feel is correct? Are your
coworkers mooching? Try putting a picture of two eyes over the box.
Seriously.
Thursday 1.4
That news story Mr. J did
about your non-dairy creamer exploding if not for a certain ingredient?
It's right here.
Wednesday 1.3
Heads-up: Miller's got a
week off next week, but the Five Question Quiz will continue, with
Therese Quinn filling in for Miller.
Tuesday 1.2
Maybe you're not a huge
college football fan, but the ending of last night's Fiesta Bowl
featured plays like something your ten-year-old son might've drawn up in
the dirt for a game in the back yard:
Weekend: 12.29.06-1.1.07
Yes, the Morning Mix is in
need of desk and/or wall calendars for 2007, since the Corporate
Overlords have dictated another round of belt-tightening. It's like
this: our executive deputy vice president in charge of corporate feng
shui requires a new miniature Louis XIV fainting couch for his bichon
frise's vacation doghouse in Switzerland, and thus the rest of us are
making the necessary sacrifices for the good of the company. You
understand, we're sure.
We'll give a plug to every
local business that drops off or mails us a 2007 calendar. Our offices
are on Pendell Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie - but they're probably
knocking off early for the holiday weekend, so maybe you want to try
next week. Or you can mail the calendars to:

We'll see you on January
2...thanks for giving us another year of semi-respectable employment!
And tell your friends we'll be streaming The Morning Mix and the rest of
the Mix's programming really soon!
